Edson's Enigma

As promised in the Contact Juggling Part I DVD commentary, here is an alternate method for learning Edson's Enigma courtesy of Remy Holwick. Thought the explanation provided in CJ Pt. I works best for most people, we discovered that for those who were still having trouble, this explanation helped them grasp the basic motions of the trick.

Begin in the closed position with the fingers of each hand pinched together supporting the ball from opposite sides.

Push both hands toward the center of the ball allowing the thumb to separate from the other fingers. Keep sliding until the thumbs touch and the ball is held in the crevasse between the thumb and fingers. This is the open position.

Transfer to the closed position again by squeezing the thumb and fingers together while sliding the hands outward.

Unless you ball is really greased up, as you transfer from open to closed and back the ball will move in your hands as thought rolling to the right or to the left. Keep the ball spinning in the same direction throughout the trick for maximum smoothness.

For the best effect, keep the fingers as close to the ball as possible and ISOLATE the ball.
